Time to ponder who are we. We, humans and all living organisms, are flesh, blood, bones and breath. What keeps all of these in amazing synchronization, in most cases, is ‘consciousness’. Are we merely magnified forms of atoms that are bound together to form a perfect living being? Or are we more than that? How is that bundle of atoms called table or chair are not able to think about origin of their existence? Is it because they our creation? If that is the case then how do our creations i.e. babies, have this ability to think and act. What separates us from non-living things that surround us? Why is it that we don’t care to ask such questions? Are we too sure that there is no force that governs this random phenomena or is it so that we have totally given up the quest of finding answers to these unexplained questions?
Physicists define atom as “a basic unit of matter that consists of a dense central nucleus surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons. The electrons of an atom are bound to the nucleus by the electromagnetic force. So, next set of questions arise. Where does that force come from? Is this force the same force we call as human consciousness? If yes, how is it that though it is present in every atom, all objects are not alive? If no, then who created this force for the very first time? How has it continued to exist? Will this force ever come to an end and if no, why are we not able to pump life in non living things? Or is it so that a smart phone screen with video playing on it is actually an example of life that we have successfully pumped in a non-living material?
We are thus nothing but atoms at our core. Protons are positively charged and electrons are negatively charged. Is this the reason why there are, and will always be, positive and negative tendencies in human beings? But then there are neutrons too. So is that the reason why overall balance is maintained despite all catastrophes? And then are we sure of what the smallest part of a substance is actually like? There are hundreds of assumptions about structure of an atom. What if these are totally flawed? Not that they are but why does a non-scientific lay man like me believes that they are more true than false?
Swamis, gurus, mahatmas, seers, saints and yogis have been searching for not many but just one answer, who are we and where do we come from?
For now, I am a prof, I have a class, and I am going to classroom.
