After a short break of three months, my biking (cycling) has resumed.
I ride a 12 gear hybrid called ‘Glacier Point’. It is a light weight aluminum frame. I had bought it from a friend who wanted to dispose it off. This guy had bought it in the U.S some three years back while he was student there. Shipped it back home. But it was wasting time in his parking lot. So, I made the deal!
It is a decent bike for short distance biking on city roads. Roads in Nagpur are wide. It is fun to do early morning biking. These days morning routine includes a short cycling trip to fitness park on Seminary Hills.
Biking is not very popular in this part of the country. Unlike Pune and Bombay, there are very few active biking clubs. There are plenty of places to go around Nagpur if one has experience and regular practice of cycling.
Going to a gym tones muscles. Definitely preferred if one wants a muscular look. But if you are targeting to build stamina, biking helps you achieve that target quite naturally.
Sudden break of couple of days from biking routine does not put you totally out of action. It is absolutely fine if there is a break. One can always make a come back without any damage or injury. That is not the case with weight training. Abrupt breaks can cause moderate to severe injury to muscles.
Also…very few things in life can give you greater joy than wearing headsets and riding the bike on top gear …while music track in your ears goes loud with Manna Dey and Kishore’s…Gadi tirchi chala, chala ada ke jhoom….bajjuuu….
